Nikau Foundation Scholarship

Applications for these scholarships close on 31 December.

A scholarship is available for a Wellington resident who wants to enrol for Speech New Zealand examinations towards any of the following qualifications: 

  • Associate of Speech New Zealand in Speech and Drama Performance
  • Associate of Speech New Zealand in Public Speaking and Communication Performance
  • Advanced Associate of Speech New Zealand in Speech and Drama Performance
  • Advanced Associate of Speech New Zealand in Speech and Drama Teaching
  • Advanced Associate of Speech New Zealand in Public Speaking and Communication Performance
  • Advanced Associate of Speech New Zealand in Public Speaking and Communication Teaching 

The successful applicant will be reimbursed for the Speech NZ fees for all modules and papers of the Associate and/or Advanced Associate of Speech New Zealand. These fees will be reimbursed on successful completion of the Diploma. The scholarship winner will have three years to achieve their diploma and be eligible for reimbursement.

Note:

  • Applicants who wish to use the scholarship towards their Associate of Speech New Zealand AND the Advanced Associate of Speech New Zealand may do so, as long as these are achieved and reimbursement is requested within three years.
  • Applicants who have already completed up to two modules towards Associate of Speech New Zealand are also eligible and will receive the examination fee for the modules that they have completed as well as for the modules they still have to complete.

The successful applicant will be required to be available for promotional interviews for the Nikau Foundation and for Speech New Zealand and information about their scholarship will be used in promotional material for the two organisations. 

The successful candidate will be selected by a committee of the Board of Speech New Zealand.

  • the name of your speech teacher and your school, if applicable
  • your performance in previous Speech New Zealand examinations
  • your career ambitions and the ways in which your speech training will help you.
