Vocational Speaking
This syllabus can be used in 2010, however, in 2011 it is replaced by Professional Speaking. The Professional Speaking syllabus is now available.
Candidates will
- develop effective oral language skills in the workplace
 
- have existing skills reinforced
 
- have their ability to inform, explain, demonstrate and instruct extended
 
- be encouraged to develop clear, audible and lively speaking
 
- be helped in developing personal confidence
 
- develop skills which foster interpersonal relationships in the workplace
Examinations assess candidates'
- general communicative ability and discussion skills
 
- formal and informal speaking
 
- personal presentations appropriate for workplace purposes and occasions
The Syllabus has three levels -
- Introductory Vocational Speaking Certificate
For secondary and tertiary students and apprentices, and others undergoing initial training or retraining
 
- Vocational Speaking Certificate
For adults undergoing further training or well established in their work
 
- Advanced Vocational Speaking Certificate
For adults who hold positions of leadership, or who have other professional, executive or representative responsibilities
 
- Assessments will take into account the candidate's occupation or intended occupation
 
- Certificates are issued to successful candidates
 
- An audience of at least six people is required
