SCHOLARSHIPS

The following Scholarships are offered annually:

GRADES

Grade Five (One)	The Jillian Carpenter Award for Grade Five Speech & Drama. This scholarship is by examiner nomination.	Free entry into Grade Six
Grade Six (Two)	*Speech & Drama, Performance and    Literature *Public Speaking and Communication	$150.00 to be paid to each recipient
Grade Seven (Two)	*Speech and Drama Performance and   Literature *Public Speaking and Communication	$200.00 to be paid to each recipient
Grade Eight (Two)	*Speech and Drama Performance and   Literature *Public Speaking and Communication	$300.00 to be paid to each recipient
Grades Six, Seven or Eight (One)	*Lorimer Marshall Scholarship – awarded to a South Island candidates in Public Speaking and Communication who show exceptional ability and potential in a Senior Public Speaking Grade examination.	$300.00 to be paid to the  recipient for further Speech New Zealand study
Vocational Speaking Introductory (One)	Todd Jubilee Prize – awarded to an Introductory candidate who demonstrates the highest standard of effective communication for the work place. The nomination is made by the examiner	$300.00 to be paid to the recipient

DIPLOMAS

ASB Speech and Drama Dunsmuir Scholarship (One)

ASB Public Speaking and Communication Founders’ Scholarship (One)

Awarded to an ASB candidate who has completed both Theory and Practical examinations and intends to take up LSB study. Candidates may apply once they have completed all Practical modules and Theory credits. This award takes the form of one free entry for each of the three modules of the LSB Practical examination and one free entry into each of the eight Theory credit examinations, whether taken by examination at the twice-yearly Theory examinations, by written assignment or by cross-credit. Candidates must apply for these scholarships by submitting copies of their Practical  reports, together with their name and address.

CANDIDATES

It is the responsibility of candidates applying for Scholarships to send into the Board by the closing date copies of their three Honours reports, together with their name and address. Applications received from South Island Public Speaking and Communication candidates will be considered for both grade or Lorimer Marshall Scholarships.

Closing date is 17 December 2010.
Applicants will be advised of the outcome mid-February 2011

The Board reserves the right not to award any or all Scholarships

 

Geyser Community Foundation and Speech NZ Scholarships for
Associate of Speech NZ for Rotorua residents

 

Two scholarships are available to Rotorua residents who have completed Grade 8 Speech NZ examinations in Speech and Drama or in Public Speaking. The scholarships, valued at $675 each, cover the fee for the seven modules of Associate of Speech NZ examinations in Speech and Drama or Public Speaking. The closing date for the scholarships is 25 August 2009.
